What Clearing can see

Chrome says Clearing can read my data on every website. What does that mean?

It means Clearing is allowed to, and it's a fair question to ask.

Chrome asks for that permission on Clearing's behalf because there is no narrower way to take a picture of a web page. Chrome's screenshot function requires access to the page being photographed, and since you could be on any page, Clearing has to be allowed on any page. Chrome's warning describes what the permission technically permits, not what Clearing does with it.

What Clearing actually does: takes a picture of the tab you're looking at, shrinks it to the size of a card, and keeps it on your computer.

What it doesn't do: read page content, fill in forms, watch what you type, follow you between sites, or send anything anywhere. There's no server, no account, no analytics.
